Continuing on the theme of colour, here is another photo from the Shilparamam craft village in Hyderabad. On such a bright and sunny day, the amount and variety of colour that was in abundance throughout this place was almost overwhelming.
I spent a couple of hours strolling around central Hong Kong this afternoon, taking photos as I went, and I couldn’t be sure whether this planet’s inhabitants were taking this whole ‘Day the World Ends’ thing seriously!
Would some expensive retail therapy and a last chance visit to see Santa really be uppermost in your mind on such a day?
Or would it be best to have a slap-up meal?
A little contemplative, solitary, reflection on the meaning of life, and all that, might be more appropriate
Or you could just concentrate on making yourself look as good as possible for the big occasion, whilst keeping an eye out for anything else unexpected
And I’m sure there could be a good case made for prayer; no matter which God or religion you follow
But, if you truly want some inspiration on such a day, look no further than these two ladies. As health care workers in Hong Kong in 2003 they gave their lives helping to save others. Whilst the World truly did hold its breath in the face of the potential global catastrophic health epidemic that was SARS, they were out fighting it on the frontline. We should all remain thankful
The most stupid thing to do on such a day would be to go out taking photographs – who would be left to show them to?
P.S. A post for 20th Dec 2012 has been purposefully omitted – it was a day best forgotten in my year.
