Can you beat India for choice when it comes to buying items of fabric in rich and attractive colours? Here at the Silparamam Arts and Crafts Village, it is hard to argue that you can’t!
Another random selection of photos taken over the last 2 weeks:
The produce in this market was laid out and presented in a very different way to what we would expect back in the UK, however there was no doubting the freshness of everything. Fish and seafood in the tanks were alive and even those laying out on the ice trays would have an occasional ‘flap’ in protest at their imminent demise. The obviously dead stuff was prepared so that you could see exactly what it was you were buying. The fruit and veg all looked similarly fresh and it made a pleasant change to see it all presented loose, rather than over-packaged as seems to be the way in the supermarkets. Above all the food was much more reasonably priced than we had been used to and it was being sold by friendly proprietors with no queues!
