When I started this blog at the beginning of 2012, the aim was to take a photo every day for a year; hence the blog’s title. As it turned out, 2012 was a success in ‘blog-title’ terms but 2013 is proving to be more of a difficult challenge. Looking back at the date of my last post, for instance, a more appropriate title would now be something like ‘monthbymonthbyphoto’ and even that would be rather optimistic of me. However, with a backlog of photos to now push out, let’s see if I can get back to being a little more ‘regular’.
Here’s a photo from this weekend. It was taken from atop a peak on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and is a panorama from slightly west of North on the left side of the photo to South East on the right. On the far left is Hong Kong International Airport with the New Territories and China beyond. In the centre distance, but barely visible, is the spectacular harbour skyline that most would know Hong Kong for. On the right side of the photo are Disneyland Hong Kong, the small village of Mui Wo and some of the many hundreds of Islands that make up part of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. For those who do not really know Hong Kong, it might be difficult to believe that we didn’t see another human being for over 5 hours on this hike – there’s more to Hong Kong than skyscrapers, dim sum and shopping!
