This is the main TRAIN station at Paris Charles de Gaulle AIRPORT. This high speed train had just arrived from Marseille enroute to Brussels. You could reach just about any major city in Europe (not just Birmingham and Leeds via The Chilterns) from the airport in equally high speed fashion. The airport has 4 runways widely, spaced apart, with room in the surrounding countryside to expand if needed. With a predominately westerly wind, the airport is located north of the city so that no arriving or departing aircraft have to overfly the city. The nearby motorway network allows quick access to anywhere in Europe on roads that are funded by the people using them, not just anybody with a car. This smacks of an INTEGRATED transport policy ( oh, and by the way the French are very cycle friendly, if you hadn’t noticed) The airports and networks at Frankfurt and Amsterdam are similar. Asian airports are possibly better. How on earth are we Brits even still in the game?
