Leica is a revered name in photography. The company’s cameras and lenses have been used to capture some of the most iconic images of the 20th and 21st century. This is the ‘Leica Gallery’ at Hong Kong International airport, currently showing a display of ‘street photography’, taken by a Hong Kong born artist working in New York. Unfortunately, I have to say the images did nothing for me. Perhaps, in photographic terms, I am still too naive to be able to fully appreciate truly artistic works. I am, however, fully aware of the enormous limitations of my own effort here. I again used the wide angle converter and this image shows up a lot of its faults; distortion, shading and color aberration to name a few. The photo was shot in Raw format, for future processing, and I’m aware that software could go some way towards correcting these faults, however, owning, understanding and successfully employing such software is a way off for me at the moment.
